Exelia is a team. Not an empty catchword or concept but an actual team. Exelia decided that it would be and remain a human scaled undertaking, focused on the efficient contribution of its members and a constant care for high quality legal services. The distribution of responsibilities and roles within the firm was thought out in order to allow each member’s abilities to be exploited at their best and in the client’s best interest. Alain Hirsch

Alain Hirsch

is a partner of the firm since 2002, having started his career in 1996.

He is the head of the business law department and uses his specialization in tax law in conjunction with his preferential daily practice in contract and corporate law. Alain HIRSCH and Exelia’s specialists help companies, private or public, to determine the legal strategy of their economic life. He also advises on commercial law, including the efficient collection of debts. Active in the Union des Praticiens de la Fiscalité (UPF) as a speaker and member of the Executive Committee, Alain HIRSCH is responsible for the administrative and financial management and communication of Exelia.

Vincent Delcuve

Vincent Delcuve

Vincent is an attorney since 2009 and a partner since 2017. He is recognized by the Brussels Bar as a specialist in tax law and is co-head of the association’s tax department. He provides advice and litigation in tax matters and has developed an expertise in local and regional taxation. He regularly gives lectures on these subjects. Vincent DELCUVE is a member of the Union des Praticiens de la Fiscalité (UPF).

Véronique Christiaens

Véronique Christiaens

attorney at the firm since 2008 – partner since January 2021- and member of the Brussels Bar (Dutch speaking Association). She developed an expertise in public procurement law, an area in which she regularly publishes alongside Jean-Marc WOLTER.

Maxime Bernard

Maxime Bernard

Attorney since 2014, he joined Exelia in 2015 and is a partner since 2022. He has developed a particular expertise in corporate law. His practice focuses on various aspects of corporate (both litigation and non-litigation) and contract law. He regularly represents clients in civil, commercial and employment law litigation.

Brice Anselme

Brice Anselme

attorney at the firm since 2019 and a partner since 2023. He previously worked within the administration as a counsel specialized in public procurements and tendering. His practice focuses especially on public procurement law, an area in which he gives lectures and publishes regularly. He is more generally trained in public law, administrative law, European public law, civil law and human rights law.

Mathieu Dekleermaker

Is a lawyer since 2014. He specializes in all aspects of public law, including public procurement law, public institutional law, administrative law, administrative and constitutional litigation. He regularly publishes in these areas.

He is also a teaching assistant in “constitutional law” and “rights and freedoms” at the University of Mons (UMONS) and at the Free University of Brussels (ULB) , as well as a scientific collaborator at the ULB’s Center for Public and Social Law.

Nicolas Peren

Started his career as a lawyer at Exelia in 2018. He is regularly active in civil law, debt collection and commercial law.

He also develops a practice in insolvency law and holds the certificate in Corporate Insolvency law organized by the Free University of Brussels (ULB), University of Namur (UNamur), University of Louvain (UCLouvain) and University of Liège (ULiège) since 2023.

Justine Chomé

Attorney since 2019, Justine joined Exelia as of 2020. She is mainly active in tax law and debt recovery cases.

Marnix De Smedt

Marnix De Smedt

Attorney since 2020, he joined Exelia the same year.

Previously, he has been the legal director of a para-regional organization and the head of procurement for a Brussels municipal non-profit organization. He holds an additional master’s degree in environmental law and public property law. He has also been a scientific collaborator at the Centre de droit des obligations at UCL from 2008 to 2015. In this context, he has published articles and participated in numerous collective publications and colloquia, mainly in the field of rental leases and property sales.

Marie-Capucine Michelot

started her career as a lawyer at Exelia in 2023. Her practice focuses on civil, commercial and corporate law. She is also developing experience of her complementary Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and ICT law obtained at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Clarisse Claus

Started her career as a lawyer at Exelia in 2023. Her practice focuses on public law, administrative law, european public law and public procurement law. She also works in debt collection.

Arnaud Babut de Marès

Attorney since 2006, Arnaud joined Exelia in 2019. He has developed a particular expertise in recovery of disbursements by public authorities in the context of their direct action against the third party responsible for the accident of one of their employees and in disputes relating to accidents at work in the public sector brought before the labor courts.

Bernard Alvarez Fernandez

As a long-time legal secretary and administrative assistant, Bernard ALVAREZ FERNANDEZ has a thorough understanding of the inner workings of a law firm, enabling him to assist EXELIA’s lawyers in case management and customer service. He also provides valuable assistance in organizing and managing debt collection litigation. He is also responsible for monitoring invoicing and accounts receivable.

Michèle LEEMPOELS holds a law degree from the Free University of Brussels (ULB) and uses her experience and expertise, particularly developed in the areas of marketing and communication, to assist EXELIA’s lawyers in case management and client service. While she masters all aspects of traditional secretarial work, her experience also enables her to provide qualified assistance in the drafting and/or correction of legal texts.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Project Management, Marlon joined Exelia as Office Manager in 2020. As a management controller for 6 years abroad and as a coordinator in administrative, financial and human resources management in a Belgian ASBL since 2018, he joined our administrative team to enable Exelia to accompany the evolution of the digitalization of the justice system as well as the modernization of the profession.
